Dental care for adults in Sweden isn't free, but the state helps with two things, both taken off the bill at clinics connected to the state dental support.
The yearly dental allowance (2026)
| Age | Allowance a year |
|---|---|
| 20 to 23 | 600 SEK |
| 24 to 65 | 300 SEK |
| 67 and older | 600 SEK |
It is paid out on 1 July each year, and unused amounts can be saved for the following year.
The high-cost protection
- You pay the first 3,000 SEK of the year's costs (at reference prices, or the clinic's price if lower).
- Between 3,000 and 15,000 SEK, the protection pays 50%.
- Above 15,000 SEK it pays 85%.
Who it's for
You must be insured in Sweden, which generally means living or working here. Most clinics are connected, but not all: ask before your visit. Försäkringskassan: dental care support

Moving for work? How Settio helps
Settio helps employers and immigration and relocation agencies run the whole move in one place, so the person moving can focus on settling in:
- Before the move: one plan for the permit and the move, with every step and deadline. A partner and children get their own steps in the same household.
- After arrival: the employee portal shows the newcomer their next steps on their phone, in their language, from registering after arrival to help for settling in.
- When the permit runs out: permit monitoring flags the extension in good time.
