How we write and check our guides
The guides on this site are written by the Settio editorial team, the people who build Settio's compliance rules for work permits and relocation. They are written for HR teams, agencies and people moving themselves.
- 1
Official sources only
Every rule, amount, fee and waiting time comes from the authority that sets it: Migrationsverket, Skatteverket, Försäkringskassan, Forskarskattenämnden, the Swedish government and Riksdag, and their equivalents in other countries. Each article lists the pages it relies on.
- 2
One registry for every figure
Salary levels, fees, tax levels and maintenance amounts live in one dated registry, each with its official source. Articles, tools and Settio's product all read from it, so a figure is never typed twice and never disagrees between pages.
- 3
A dated fact check
Each guide shows the date its facts were last checked against those sources. A figure we can't confirm on an official page is left out until we can.
- 4
Proposals are labelled
Bills, inquiries and memos that aren't law yet are described as proposals, with the planned date, and are never presented as current rules.
- 5
Reviews when rules move
Salary levels change every June, the price base amount every January, and waiting times every month. When a figure in the registry changes, every page that uses it changes with it, and we re-read the guides around it.
- 6
Guidance, not legal advice
The guides explain how the rules work for most people. Individual cases can turn on details, so for decisions with real consequences check with the authority.
How often figures are re-checked
- Work-permit and EU Blue Card salary levels: at least every 90 days, and when Migrationsverket announces a change
- Application fees: at least every 180 days
- Amounts set once a year (maintenance, benefits, tax levels): at least once a year, and when the new year's amount is published
Found a mistake?
Rules change quickly and we would rather hear about an error than leave it. Use "Report an error" on any guide, or email us with the page and the source. Every correction is listed publicly. [email protected]
