Why Forum Advice Fails Your International Hires

International hires ask forums because HR is busy, and forums disagree. Why sourced, dated guidance in the hire's language is part of an employer's duty of care.

A new hire with a question at 10 pm asks the internet. Forum threads are generous and often right, but they disagree, age fast and can't know the hire's case. When rules change, as Sweden's unemployment insurance did on 1 October 2025, last year's answer is simply wrong.

What good guidance looks like

  • Sourced. Each fact links the authority's own page.
  • Dated. It says when it was checked, so everyone knows when to check again.
  • In the hire's language, and in the order they need it.
  • Not advice. It points to the authority or an adviser for decisions about their own case.

An example that changed

Since 1 October 2025, how long someone has been an a-kassa member decides how much they'd get: 80%, 60% or 50% of previous pay. A forum answer from 2024 gets this wrong. IAF: the new unemployment insurance
