Who submits the work permit application in Sweden, the employer or the employee?
Updated · Facts checked against the official sources below
Both. The employer starts the application in the Swedish Migration Agency's employer e-service with the terms of the employment, the union gets to comment, then the employee completes their part, adds their documents and pays the fee.
In detail
- Employer: the advertisement, the contract and the terms.
- The relevant union: a chance to comment on the terms.
- Employee: personal details, passport, family members and the fee.
- The application is registered only when both parts are done.
How Settio helps
Settio prepares everything before that step (the plan, the checked documents and the filing pack), so whoever files does not hunt for anything.
