Updated · Facts checked against the official sources below
The employer must have health, life, security (trygghetsförsäkring) and occupational pension insurance at the level of the collective agreement or what is usual in the industry, in place when the employment starts. From 1 June 2026, someone staying a year or less must also have, or have applied for, comprehensive health insurance valid in Sweden.
In detail
- Health, life, security (work injury) and occupational pension insurance.
- Collective agreement insurance usually covers all four.
- Without a collective agreement, insurance at the same level is needed.
- Stays of up to a year: comprehensive health insurance too, from 1 June 2026.
