What happens to a work permit when the employee resigns or is let go?
Updated · Facts checked against the official sources below
The permit is tied to the job, so when the employment ends the person needs a new job and usually a new permit to stay. They may stay three months after the last working day to look for new work, as long as the permit is still valid. An EU Blue Card holder must tell the Swedish Migration Agency the employment has ended.
